Tic Tac Tone, an a cappella sextet, launched into the Singapore a cappella scene with a bang in June 2000 when they came in Second in the nationwide Sing Singapore competition with their arrangement of Singapura Medley. Comprising five voices and a vocal percussionist, TTT likens their sound to bands and prefers to be known as a Vocal Band. They perform a wide range of music without musical instruments, spanning from contemporary pop to classic evergreens. Over the last two years, their sounds took a more definitive shape. Backed by powerful vocalists, heavy bass rhythm and impossible percussion beats, Tic Tac Tone added to their rapidly expanding repertoire to include R&B, Jazz and recently, original compositions. The style in which their music was performed became what they called Urbanised Funk. The band actively participates in arts festivals, collaborating with various art bodies to promote a cappella to the masses. TTT has also been supporting the Heartware Network, a charitable organisation which encourages the spirit of volunteerism, in their activities since 2001. In October 2002, Tic Tac Tone was invited to perform in the inaugural opening ceremony of Singapore's premier performance venue, the Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay. The year 2004 saw the group collaborating with one of Singapore's leading theatre company, The Necessary Stage, in a community play depicting the role of music in people's life. In October 2004, Tic Tac Tone was invited to take part in the Made In Singapore performance extravaganza that featured top performing artistes in Singapore. To-date, the band has presented two solo concerts in 2002 & 2003. In 2005, the band staged their 5th Anniversary Concert "Secret Diary" to celebrate their five-year journey in a cappella music-making. TTT is Serene Tan, Alina Tan, Roy Sim, Ken Chew, Gene Wong and Chan Khar Liang.
